2006 Tip #5:
Spring
The longer days are now officially Spring.
Webster’s dictionary has an exceptionally long list of definitions for spring. Picking out two:
“Any period of beginning or newness.”
“A flow of water from the ground, often the source of a stream.”
I think of “fresh starts.” And, I think of springs that yield life-giving waters into streams that eventually become mighty rivers. May this Spring yield for us positive renewals and fresh starts for our health goals. What do you visualize for yourself during this fine season?
As far as water itself, and our last message, there was more discussion of water and water supply than I could have imagined as the bond debate headed to a big pause. While disappointed that we couldn’t find the balance in the debate in time for the June ballot, I am confident that the debate is a healthy one and that we will find that middle ground to proceed with investing in our future water needs as well as the rest of our infrastructure.
As far as our personal water consumption and our immediate health, here’s more on why hydration is so important to our health from an article in Active.com’s newsletter:
“Water, water everywhere. Even our bodies are two-thirds water. Water is life. We need it more desperately than food. It transports oxygen and nutrients through the body. It oils the joints and regulates body temperature, aids digestion and keeps the metabolism humming.
Yet, how much is enough? Too much? Too little? Are you sating your need? Thirst alone can be unreliable.”

May this year’s spring give us the energy and power of a big river that starts from a tiny spring! Have an excellent Springtime!
