TIMES
Race Day Registration & Packet Pickup: 7 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Kids’ Winter Fun Runs: Ages 5 & under, quarter mile: 8:10 a.m. | Ages 6 to 10, half mile: 8:20 a.m.
5k Run/Walk: 8:30 a.m.
New Year’s Toast & Awards Ceremony: 9:45 a.m.
New Year’s Resolution Expo: 7 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
COURSE
My First 5k is a flat and fast 5 km (3.1 mile) run/walk for people of all ages and fitness abilities. It will begin and end at the State Capitol and loop around beautiful Capitol park. View Course Map [PDF].
FEATURES
Custom t-shirt, ChampionChip timing, refreshments, live music featuring the Wooden Nickel Band, awards, raf fle, and kids’ entertainment. In addition to their medal, all kids participating in the Kids’ Winter Fun Runs will receive a special #1 foam finger at the conclusion of their runs. My First 5k Resolution Expo Table is the place where you can solidify your wellness goals for 2010. Write down your resolutions and we’ll mail it back to you mid-year to give you that extra boost to get through the hot summer months.
AWARDS
Awards ceremony to follow event at 9:45 a.m. The top 3 finishers in each age division will receive awards. All first-time 5k finishers will receive a special medal. All participants in the Kids’ Winter Fun Runs and the 5k division will also receive medals.
AGE DIVISIONS
12 & under, 13-15, 16-18, 19-24, 5 year increments to 80+
TEAM INFO
We encourage you to partake as a team, whether it’s a corporate team, or a group of friends and/or family. The team with the most members who complete the race will receive a free Socci physical education system donated to the school of their choice (valued at $400). Team members must register individually and supply a common team name at time of registration.
ENTRY FEES
$25 postmarked through December 23, 2009; $30 after December 23, 2009 and on race day. $15 for all Kids’ Winter Fun Run participants. We strongly encourage pre-registration to avoid lines on race day and to ensure correct T-shirt size. Online registration ends on December 31, 2009.
