Special Projects
Thank you for your interest in the Wellness Task Force. Final staff will be leaving by May 31, 2011 after 10 years of providing exciting programs, extensive research and community events throughout California. Should you have any questions about the status of the Task Force, and whether or not the Senate plans to continue operations, please contact Task Force Chair, Senator DeSaulnier, by email or call (916) 651-4007. Thanks to our many supporters and partners over the years that helped make the Wellness Task Force a roaring success!

The Wellness Task Force operated several events and special projects in addition to the focus areas.

My First 5k & Kids' Winter Fun Runs
Whether your first 5k ever or your first of the New Year, My First 5k walk/run is a time to celebrate health with friends and family. The race culminates with a New Year’s toast and an opportunity to write down your personal health resolution for the New Year.

Fit Crawl
The Fit Crawl introduced Sacramento area residents to a variety of physical fitness facilities in midtown Sacramento. Participants cruised between participating businesses to demo fitness activities, received free goodies and met new friends.

Annual Walk Around the Capitol
A fun walk around the State Capitol with legislators to promote May Fitness Month.

Step Into Fitness Faire
The Step Into Fitness Faire began in 2003 in an effort to reach working adults who simply find it difficult to eat healthy and participate in regular physical activity during the workday. The Faire demonstrated healthful tips, treats, exercises and services that can help working adults make healthier choices every day. The Fit Faire was held annually on the third Thursday in May (California Fitness Month) at the State Capitol and in conjunction with Bike to Work Week when possible.
